About Nancy

Nancy H. McCord, Psy.D., is a licensed psychologist in private practice in Decatur, Georgia. For nearly twenty years she has been providing psychological care in a variety of community and hospital settings. Much of her work focuses on helping her clients create and sustain more intimate and fulfilling relationships. She draws from therapeutic approaches which highlight the healing value of empathy and she is skilled at helping clients identify, express, and process their emotions. Out of her extensive experience with eating disorders Nancy also brings to her work an ability to integrate cognitive-behavioral and mind-body oriented techniques to assist with a variety of difficulties. Nancy is known for her warmth, engaged listening, playful sense of humor, and collaborative approach with her clients.

Her approach to therapy is grounded in Attachment Theory (the study of how emotional bonds are formed and maintained throughout the lifespan), Self Psychology, and Humanistic Psychology. She has received post graduate training in EMDR (a technique for addressing traumatic memories) and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. Nancy is licensed as a Psychologist in Georgia (# 2158).
